how to weld on leaf spring perches

I really want to flip my axle on my 86 when I get home.

I'm looking at a set of perches however I see many different kinds.
Where is a link to one's with three pin holes drilled in them for proper placement of the axle within the wheel well?

I have access to a welder but the above question stumps me?
Is resetting pinion angle necessary?

You will have to set the pinion angle. Its not hard though. Buy an angle finder from the hardware store. Use the same angle that you had before. Make sure you measure it with the weight of the bed on there though.

You can buy a flip kit for around $75 which will include the shock extenders and you don't have to worry about the pinion angle. That might be easier way to go.

More importantly. What kind of welder and what is the amperage? How much welding experience do you have. The perches take a lot of stress and I have seen improperly welded perches break off letting the axle spin causing all sorts of fun things to happen.

Welding on the tubes can also bend the housing from the heat. A flip kit solves this issue also.

Flip kit. As mentioned above, takes all of the questions out of the job. I used a DJM on my truck and it is a pretty neat setup that allows for adjustable pinion anagle so you can set it correctly once you know the ride height.

Re: how to weld on leaf spring perches

Hey guys thanks for the advice. I've decided not to to with the axle perches. However can anyone recommend me a kit that is decent hit on the wallet and relative easy installation? Pics would be awesome

I went with the DJM kit and would do that again. Summit Racing was my source and it was in the $120 range if memory serves.
