Ridetech shocks on your sqarebody?
Hi all,
Wasn't getting any love in the suspension form so I thought I would try in here, anyone using Ridetech shocks on your square? If so, how do you like them. I think my suspension problem is with my shocks and I am willing to pay for them if it will greatly improve my ride. Any help will be appreciated. Ben |

Best shocks that I've found since I lowered it some 35+ years ago.

Thanks for the reply Hammered, Which one did you go with, the RQ or HQ and can you give a little comparison on Ridetech vs other brands used?
Again, thanks for your help! |

Re: Ridetech shocks on your sqarebody?
I have the RQ's on the front and KYB's on the back (for now) and there is a considerable difference imo. I had KYB's on front and decided to try the RQ's and very happy with the change. The RQ's are a much smoother shock but still very firm.
I'll be swapping out the rears, just waiting on Summit lol

Re: Ridetech shocks on your sqarebody?
Thanks for all your help guys, I decided to go with a 2/4 McGaughy drop with Belltech SP shocks. I wanted the Ridetech but with the added cost of the drop I had to compromise.
Thanks again. Ben |

Re: What drop kit??
Hi All,
Since I have decided to go with a 2/4 drop i was looking at Mcgaughy 2/4 with Belltech Sp shocks. but then I found a 2/4 Belltech drop with the SP shcks for just a little more than the other kit i mentioned. Question: Is a 2" drop spring a bad idea? I thought about going with a drop spindle but I think my front springs have already been cut and I would need to order new springs as well. Is the ride difference going to be that much different between a 2" spring or 2.5 spindle?? Thanks all, Ben |

Are you looking to go 2 inches lower than where the truck sits currently? If so, I would do the spindle and the truck will ride the same as it does now. At that point your main ride quality improvement would be new shocks. Also, if you are unsure if your springs have been cut or not, I would suggest measuring your shock mounts at ride height to determine the correct length of shock you will need. |
