Upper Control arm install.

Does this look correct? Hardware set up? Shaft is centered on control arm.

Looks normal to me except a little pulled away, don't think it will affect anything. Here's mine, just finished installing all new joints and bushings and shafts. Just got it re-aligned today. Do you have the upper arm rubber stopper? I had to put a temporary one on mine because I couldn't find the upper or lower one when I put it together. Later I found that LMC has them so I ordered them and will install them later. My truck is slammed so I don't think it will be an issue, only when I jack it up.

I think the bolts for your ball joint should come up from underneath . Nuts for bolts on top .

I haven't bought new rubber stoppers yet. I bought some stuff from lmc which included new shafts, shims and another piece that goes between the shims and the cross shaft. Did not know if it was right. Took it a part 15 years ago and don't remember.

Hard to tell from the first photo which way we're looking, at least for me.

The rubber bump stop goes towards the rear of the vehicle. And yes you can install them (or at least one of the upper or lower arms) on the wrong side.

Yes, his uppers are correct. The snubber platform should face towards the rear and the lowers will have the bottom shock mount also facing the rear. When I did my upper & lower shafts I marked the nuts with my dremel and counted each turn to make sure they were as close to even as possible. If you put some grease on the insides of the arm, where the nuts go into, it makes it MUCH easier to tighten. When you get it aligned they will +/- shims as needed.

Also, it looks like your lower arm is installed already? Looks like you can barely make out the bottom shock mount. If it is then it's on the correct way.

Do the nuts need to be on top of the ball joint or does it matter ?

My Moog instructions said the nuts go on top. I read someplace this is to reduce the chance of rupturing a boot with the end of a bolt.

I don't think the cross shaft is all the way tight. The nuts are snug but I can still rock the a arm from side to side.

Ya, that shouldn't happen. If it were me I would redo it. I had to redo one of mine, I wasn't quite sure it was correct so I re-did it just to be safe. Both of my uppers & lowers were pretty snug and had no movement in them. I did tighten mine beyond snug though, they were torqued down pretty tight.

Good catch FirstOwner69, didn't see that. Yes, the nuts should be on the top to prevent damage to the boot.

It looks like the washers and shims are reversed. The washer goes toward the frame and the shims between there and cross shaft. Big Mike has it right. The pic in post #6 is right.

I will move the shims. I finally got it tight. I used the original cross shaft and removed the lmc Taiwan made one, works good.
