Re: going "Pro Street" - the affordable way!
I guess I've seen something new today. I don't know if I agree with the idea, for the same reasons as smbrous70 already stated, but anything is possible.
I guess I've clogged up the OP's thread enough already, so I'll leave this alone now

Re: going "Pro Street" - the affordable way!
well, for what its worth guys, i picked this up last weekend at a swap meet, so now as money allows itll get narrowed and filled with good strange/moser/currie guts!
the person i bought it from had rigged it to be run in a G body car, but all brackets and previous welded/cut brackets will be cut off and entire housing smoothed and painted.

A rear sway bar might help, too. You can probably find them at stock car auctions.
Box the frame good when moving hangers around. Wouldn't be too hard to put a small notch in when doing that. |

Re: going "Pro Street" - the affordable way!
Hey guys, been a while since i posted up here, haven't had a chance to start on the truck yet like i had planned - HOWEVER - i did find a steal deal of some wheels and tires that'll work for the build. Anyway, i picked up a set of 4 Cragar S/S uni-bolt chrome wheels, they all needed some TLC and one may need to be replaced as i think its beyond getting out. Anyway, 2 are 15x7 or 8 and 2 are 15x12. With the wheels came 2 Mickey Thompson Sportsman Pro tires in a 29x15.5R15 size and 2 very weather checked BFG radial T/As in a 235/60R15, which happens to be the EXACT tire size on my current wheels, and the tires are at best 1,500 miles old and 3 years old.
Anyway on to the pics eh? Rears: Fronts: After an hour or 2 with aluminum foil and coke/water mixed heres the results. Mind you this is before any type of chrome polish was applied or any type of sealant was used on the wheels. Cleaned:
Random Pics: Not exactly a "perfect" fit as is being i cant drive truck with rears on, however, thats why i have a Ford 9" thatll be getting narrowed as well as tubbing and swapping suspension on back side of truck!

Re: going "Pro Street" - the affordable way!
Last time I saw inboard leaf spring on a faux-street squarebody was at a buddies shop. He saw me studying it and I asked how well it worked. He told me it was backyard build and it handled horrible. I asked why it was in his shop, and he replied " he wants it done correctly now".
Good luck with it.

Zach, looking at the pics again, you might be OK leaving the springs in the stock location with the narrowed 9". Or if you do go inboard, you might have to use a sway bar to help compensate for the difference in leverage/stability from in-boarding.

Re: going "Pro Street" - the affordable way!
we did a few trucks that way when we were broke teenagers, we also used junkyard s10 rear axles and they held up a lot better that we thought they would.
i cant remember what b.s. wheels we used but with the s10 rear end we were fitting 15x14 wheels and 18.5 or 19.5 mt sportsmans on the back. basically you had a set of wheels & tires, a junkyard s10 rear end, set of spring perches from the trailer shop, a u-joint and set of home made tubs and you were the coolest kid in high school on Monday morning
