66 C20 gas gauge

I've got a non instrument gauge cluster in my 66 C20, and the gas gauge hasn't worked since I bought it in '94. Finally pulled the cluster (what a pain in the butt! What's with that lower dash grabby stuff?) and the fuel gauge came out in two pieces. The gauge face and some coils, and then the plate, with two posts and a resistor.

Anybody have side views of the gauge so I can see how the front fastens to the back?

And is that lip on the bottom of the gauge hole really necessary? Can I cut it off ?

Thanks!

Re: 66 C20 gas gauge

This is what the gauge look like now. I believe it's supposed to be one piece, not two. I also have a gas gauge out of a 64 or so GMC. Looks like it will fit on the back plate mine, but are there any pitfalls I'm not aware of? Thanks
