Dbl wall top stripped out bolt holes
Can someone please tell me how to fix stripped out nuts inside my double wall top. I seen a write up a while back but can't seem to find it. Thanks in advance.

Never done it but can you drill and tap to the next size?

Re: Dbl wall top stripped out bolt holes
That's what I did. It came with 5/16" bolts, had three broken off in my top so I went to 3/8 coarse bolts. I bought all stainless hardware and used antiseize to prevent issues.
You just need the right size drill bit, and the tap. You may also need to drill out the body holes slightly to allow for larger holes. Pretty straight forward though. I wouldn't recommend drilling out the sun visor bolts though.

Re: Dbl wall top stripped out bolt holes
I have a problem with my double wall top but it is the bolt hole by the sunvisor on the driver side. How would I fix that stripped hole?
Thank you |

Re: Dbl wall top stripped out bolt holes
My top has a small hole cut where mine is from the po. It's actually missing the mount so I'm thinking of using small bolts to reattach it instead of the rivets.

Re: Dbl wall top stripped out bolt holes
I've been thinking of doing the same thing. I'm thinking about drilling the rivets, cutting a slit and sliding the plate out.
Then I'll clean it up, weld a nut on, put some paint on and either rivet it back on or use some small fasteners to hold it in place. I figure it doesn't need a lot of holding power since the bolt will put it down against the inside layer. How does yours work Blazerowner?
