Have a 71 short fleetside with the molding holes exposed and/or reference points?
Uppers, lowers, and the tailgate moldings for a Custom Deluxe? That, sport mirrors and tail bezels if possible.
What I'm hoping for are precise measurements and descriptions (e.g., from the center ridge on the door to.......). Straight tape measure, or conforming like a sewing tape measure? 10ths? are your upper bed moldings per GM? I believe I've read where they should slant downward toward the rear. Somewhat like the bed itself I suppose, which is the flat portion below the rail is approx 2.5" in front, and the rear approx. 4". If you're reputable (i.e., good info.), I'd be happy to make it worth your while, maybe a part for example? Feel free to PM if you like, or place it in this thread. Incidentally, I realize instructions are available, and reference points may be all that I really need. The problem with the GM's instructions is the reference points generally cannot be confirmed. In other words, they may be based on a mystery object that's no longer relevant.

Note, I think the molding locations are the same 69-72 short fleet. Only variance is the tailgate (Custom Vs Cheyenne), I believe.

Re: Have a 71 short fleetside with the molding holes exposed and/or reference points?
I think the key is that magic 30" line for the upper trim, and 10 or 15" line for the lower. According to the cab drawing, it looks like the lower body line starts at 5", so the "30 inch" line for the upper would be 25" above the lower body line, and the lower 10" line would come in at 5".
Gauging by the dimensions, the rear holes on the back of the cab have the following: The upper hole is 1.09 below the 30" line, making it roughly 24" above the body line, and the lower looks like 3.3" above the 10" line, making it about 8" above the body line. I went out and did a non-scientific measurement, and these seem to be close to what I have on the truck. I'll post a couple pics -- sorry for the lousy cell phone quality

Re: Have a 71 short fleetside with the molding holes exposed and/or reference points?
I think you guys have given most of the information I needed, or maybe its has just sunk in. Thank you.
The remaining mystery are the tailgate moldings for a Custom Deluxe. The tail bezels shouldn't be that difficult, due to two drill holes.
