front disc brake conversion 65 c-10

I'm looking for advice on a spindle (not a drop spindle) that will be compatible with the DJM control arms that I'm using to replace the factory control arms on my 1965 c-10 fleetside. The new DJM control arms are going to give me a 5" drop. So, I need a factory height spindle and a disc brake kit as well. If anyone knows of a brake kit with the spindles included please advise. Any help will be appreciated.

Almost ALL drop spindle manufacturers sell a stock height 63-70 disc brake conversion spindle. They will be a direct bolt on replacement for your drum brake spindle.
Look at summit racing.

I think those lower control arms lower the front 3". I'm not a big fan of lowering front control arms because they just lower the bottom of the spring bringing the spring bucket closer to the ground. If you were to use a drop spindle with them it would be way worse.

As far as spindles go you can use a stock 72 disc brake spindle as long as you have the right ball joints in the control arms.

Re: front disc brake conversion 65 c-10

71-72 or 73-87 require a balljoint change like you said.
But the tie rods have to be changed also.
It get's more complicated because the 63-70 outer tie rods are LH thread and 5/8".
The 71-72 or 73-87 outer tie rods are rh thread and 11/16"

Direct bolt on spindles is the easiest.

I too HATE drop pocket a-arms like the ones DJM makes.
This is outdated lowering components.
There are better safer ways to lower your truck.
I suggest drop spindles and stock lower a-arms also.

Hey Keith,
Do you have any recommendations on a front and rear drop and disc brake conversion?

I like using ECE for 60-72 trucks.
Give them a call before you decide to go anywhere else.
These guys know these trucks.
Superior customer service to!
