What I have to work on today (pic)

I'm a mechanic at a college, and this is one of the work trucks that I maintain. It;s a '67 with a staight 6, 3 spd standard, no ps, no pb, no radio. Very plain, but very little rust, and still drives like a dream with 68,000 original miles since bought new by the college in 1967. I'm just waiting for them to retire this one!

Man I think there are a lot of "service" type trucks like that around.

One thing about it, you just can't ask for one easier to work on when you can pull a transmission in 20 minutes, lol.

USU has a C-50 that they use to pickup and drop off the recycle dumpsters. Looks pretty clean, runs pretty good, I wouldn't mind getting my fingers on it!!!

When I was at Chico State back in the mid 80's they had a small fleet of late 60's Chevys and Fords that looked just like that one. They used them for maintance and only traveled around campus and two blocks down the street to the shop. The interiors looked showroom new and you couldn't even hear them running.

Maybe you can "discover" something fatally wrong with it and suggest for them to dispose of it immediately. :p Nothing beats an unmolested truck

That's funny, I'm at Chico State rightnow and their fleet of old chevys and fords is still alive and kickin. They have a 68 SWB, 69 SWB, and a 70 LWB all fleet white and in awesome condition, except for the 70, that has seen a little wear and tear.

Whenever they "retire" a vehicle it has to go to Baton Rouge to a public auction. Of coarse, if it has something "fatally wrong" with it, and can't make the drive....lol, then they auction it from a picture, in which case it brings alot less money. Been there, done that, lol. But this one may be here a while, because the boss has a '72 4x4(very nice) that he has owned for at least 20 years, so he is kinda partial to these trucks.
Seanh71- I'm near Ruston. (Tech) I have family in Central, BR. Is that close to you?
