Gas tank relocation???
Looking into the gas tank relocation to free up some cab space. I have spent hours searching this and have come up with either filling in the bed or through the tail light. What i have not found is can the gas tank be seen hanging down from the rear of the pickup? Also if someone has detailed pics of the inside of the bed where they came up to the tail light that would sure be appreciated.
Thanks

Re: Gas tank relocation???
Can the tank be seen? depends on the tank and the truck, lifted? Dropped? fuel cell, Camero, what model, ect.
There is also side marker fill or side fill using a gas door off a later model truck Try searching this in google, 67-72 will bring up posts in this forum, the key words help to refine the search. "67-72 side marker fill" "67-72 rear tail light fill" "67-72 (your tank here)" Or if you use the forum search feature be sure use the advanced search to use the key words, but also check the box that says posts or threads one way then the other.

Re: Gas tank relocation???
I used the 69 Camaro tank and yes, mine can be seen from the back, but only a little. My fill is in the bed floor right now, but will be moved to the side upon completion.

Re: Gas tank relocation???
Pickup will be lifted. As far as tank goes i was just going to order one off lmc or have a custom one built. Using the search function i have found lots of pics of the filler in the tail light assembly, however no pics coming up into it from the backside or underneath and thats what i was after.
I appreciate the info, I will keep on the lookout.

Re: Gas tank relocation???
I've been looking into a rear tank too. Ive bought most of what I need for the install and decided to go with the mustang tank as it seems to be the only one that does not hang down and look unpleasant to me. Here's some good threads on how to deal with mustang installs in case your interested because ford tanks will present a few problems, but to me they just look better, not trying to insult anybody else's rig, just trying to give my opinion. As far as I know the only option for the mustang tank is the bed fill so I wanna be clear on that.
http://67-72chevytrucks.com/vboard/s...tang+rear+tank http://67-72chevytrucks.com/vboard/s....php?p=6346375 http://67-72chevytrucks.com/vboard/s...ng+tank&page=2 Hope that worked I'm still figuring out the links. For a rear tank I think all options present issues, you gotta choose between stuff like ease of install, cool fillers, tank hanging too low and other stuff. Maybe somebody has really nailed it and I just missed it but I thing all options have issues and the mustang tank was the lesser of evils so that what I'm doing, I'm not happy about having a bed fill but maybe I'll find another way once I'm getting it installed but I think you gotta choose between bed fill or hanging low. (Hopefully somebody corrects me if I'm wrong, I just wanted to get you info on the mustang tank incase you were unaware it seemed) P.s. Sorry for the novel, I'm no good at keeping it short.
