1970 GMC 2wd Axle Help..
hey guys, Ive got a 1970 GMC 2WD Short Step, has a GM 12 bolt, 6 lug drum, all original axle, trying to find the correct length and/or splines for the axles. looking to order a set of moser axles and differential to throw into the stock 12 bolt housing. Any info would be appreciated. Thanks in advance.
Edit: Not currently near the truck to pull the rear end apart, I am in the military and stationed elsewhere, trying to get parts and whatnot on order so when i get back to the truck i can start tearing things apart and doing more work to the truck. thanks!

Re: 1970 GMC 2wd Axle Help..
There were 2 different length housings in the 1970 model year.
You will need to verify what YOU have so you can order the correct parts. Both of the '70 rearends I have are the same width as the wider 71-72 trucks 5-lug rearend. Some say you could get the same width rearend as the narrower 67-69 in the early production 1970 trucks. Too much money to guess. Early housing is 55.5" backing plate to backing plate. (67-69 early 70) The later housing is 57" backing plate to backing plate. (late 70 and 71-72)
