67 Short bed
Hello All,
I'm new to this site however, I have a question regarding vin numbers and SPID. I'm looking at 67 short bed with a changed out glove box with no SPID but the vin plate and vin on the frame match. I do not know the model number and I wanted to know how to find that out and what other vital information I may need to determine that it is an original truck. Many Thanks, JM |

Re: 67 Short bed
If frame and vin match it should be an original shortbox. Just make sure and check for any frame cuts where it may have been shortened. If there isn't a spid then you're kind of out of luck as far as telling what options it originally had

photos of the vin info. Would the Vin on the frame just be the last 8 numbers or would it be the entire vin number like the vin plate? Thank you, JM Posted via Mobile Device |

Re: 67 Short bed
While he's snapping pics of the frame for the VIN... have him snap pics of the frame just past the cab... make sure it's not a hacked down longbed.

Re: 67 Short bed
You can post the VIN up and we can help determine if what is there is at least somewhat original (if you're not comfortable with the whole thing, just leave off the last 4 or 5 numbers, those are just the sequence in which it was built, the first 6 numbers/letters are the important ones).
Also, 67's are unique, in that their cabs have a bunch of one year only designs, like a small ignition switch/bezel where 68-72 have much larger ones.

Re: 67 Short bed
Cab looks to be a 67 only to me, with the small ignition switch and small window, but the cigarette lighter looks wrong (huge) and the dash has the wrong knobs on it (common because they aren't reproduced).
C= 4x2 S = Six Cylinder Gas Engine 1 = 1/2 Ton 4 = Pickup with Cab and Bed (does not designate fleet or step, you need the model number from the SPID on the glove box which you said you don't have) 7 = 1967 S = St. Louis Your truck was built at the same plant as mine, with the exact same numbers CS147S and I think my serial number is kinda close to yours... cool. Unfortunately you'll need the SPID (or build sheet) to verify which 6 cylinder, if it was auto/manual, if it was a fleet or step, longbed or shortbed, etc.

Re: 67 Short bed
Not without the build sheet or glove box SPID.
