Front sway bar is in...wow

Wow is all I can say. The truck feels totally different in terms of body roll and handling. Everything feels much tighter and together. Found a bar at a wrecker and ordered the hardware from Early Classics. Took me about 1.5 hours to install on my own and that included smoothing out a divot on the frame with the torch. Very easy and very worthwhile mod.

yup a front bar makes a huge difference, a rear bar makes a big difference as well... not as much as the front but still worth it in my opinion.

I ordered a rear bar for my 67 thinking it would help with handling ,,, went to check the fronts bushings and surprise no bar,,, all trucks nowadays have them , and most have a rear also , surprised me to say the least .

I put the large front sway bar and also the rear sway bar fromm cpp on my 67 when I lowered it , made a big difference it will go around a curve like its on rails !

Does the rear bar have to be aftermarket or can it be found off another model year like the front?

I know guys have adapted rear sway bars from Z28's or TA's. I used the setup from No Limit. I'm still miles from driving this thing but I really like how it fits!

Almost if not the best bang for the buck mod you can do to 67-72 C10.

The sway bar is the most easily identified modification in terms of feel.

If you do a search for rear sway bars, you will see a few different bars used from various manufacturers, and how they are mounted. The rear is probably the most flexible as far as fitment, because you can go over or under, in front or behind the trailing arms ( not sure about leafs). The suspension design offers a lot of flexibility.

Id say you could use one of a newer truck and get it to fit for the rear , I got mine in with a bunch more stuff so I dont remember how much it was ,,,,,,,

I plan to put one on the front of mine I plan to keep the stock ride height and have read on here that the rear didn't make that much of a difference as far as handling but made it too stiff on bumps now im not sure?

And I just happen to have a Firebird rear stabiliser bar hiding in the garage! I've got a couple front bars & hardware. It never ends with these projects! There's always something more to do.

GM did an incredible job on the suspension of these trucks, which started over 50 years ago in '63. I can't tell you how many people have ridden with me that have never ridden in an "old truck" before (or ridden in others that were really crappy... *cough* ford *cough* ) and are shocked at how well it rides/handles. I have an ECE 1-1/4" bar on my truck and nothing else, she rides and handles well for a big ole girl.

My 72 Burb that is lowered with a front sway bar will go thru a corner much faster than our 03 Yukon.

All the brackets came off the same car, i had to make a couple of spacers to mount the brackets to the frame.

Since my new (to me) 72 GMC Sierra Grande C15 rides like a boat, I guess I'll be doing this! A work friend said it made a night and day difference in his '67 C10.

Is there a list anywhere of sway bars from which make / model / year cars would fit?

just be carefull what you pull outa the jy.
i found this rear bar on a 2wd leaf spring square body blazer i layed in the mud too get it out on a rainy day
i cant for the life of me get it too fit my trailing arm suspention without shock relocation and flex brake line relocation even then it comes to close for comfort too the springs.
dummy me.
but i do think its a helwig bar from the 80's at least from the searches i've done it matches one of them. of course it needs some work but the bar is soild.

i allready put a 1 1/4" bar up front from a "p" van/box truck.
the frame brackets i got from the p seem too be shorter and beefier than the frame brackets we got off a 3/4 ton 67-72 for the kids thinner front sway bar.I did have compairson pics but cant find'em
when the times come too drive my project i'll get a z 28 rear bar just too try it out.
