starter/coil/alternator
I am going to rebuild the wiring harness that plugs into firewall and operates starter, coil, alternator and after removing black wrap discovered one wire that is cloth bound and looks to be aluminum. This wire and the yellow wire go to coil pos side. My question is what is this bound wire called and where can I get some replacement, I know its a "wire" but would like to know its correct nomenclature. What is this wires purpose?

Re: starter/coil/alternator
The cloth covered wire is a resistor wire only used with points ignitions,if you were to go HEI or other electronics you swap this wire for conventional wire

Re: starter/coil/alternator
Thanks for the reply Gigolo. Am going to use a pertronix system which will do away with that wire but I want to rebuild harness to original in case the HEI craps out.. Where to look for that style wire?
