06 2500 HD 4x4 wheels/tires
I recently picked up an 06 2500HD 4x4, and I'm looking at the truck, and I can't help but think the tires look puny as hell. I don't want to lift the truck yet, just put some nicer wheels and tires on. Something like American racing AR's( http://www.americanracing.com/wheels...1721/techsheet ) and BFG all terrains.
here's the truck I was hoping someone could make a size recommendation to me. I don't want the wheels to be any bigger than 17", and I would prefer they don't stick out drastically passed the fenders and flares. Thanks- Eric

Re: 06 2500 HD 4x4 wheels/tires
If it were me I would put 235/85/16 they are around a 1.5" taller and around the same width. Or if you want a little bit taller and wider tire 265/75/16 they are about an 1.5" taller also but about 1" wider also. The 235's will be a little cheaper. but both will fit with no lift

All 3 tire have the same load rating E (a little over 3000 lbs.) and the all are 10 ply tires

Re: 06 2500 HD 4x4 wheels/tires
I personally like the 265/75r16 or 265/70r17. I run the 265/75r16 on the factory rim and I like the look. I wish it was on a wider rim so the tire looked a little beefier, so I think the 8" you have chose would be a good choice and who doesn't like 17" wheels on these larger modern vehicles! The 265 looks like what the factory should have installed and in 08 the 265/70r17 was an option. A 285 would fit, but then your tire size will throw off the speedo even more without addressing it in the ECM. The 265 options listed above are the same diameter and width as each other just 2 different rim sizes and they will trow your speedo off by about 4%,not enough to worry about, so when you are going down the road at 65 you are really going 67.5ish.

Follow up:
285/75R16 BFG All Terrain Ko2 on 16x10 Mickey Thompson Classic III's The scrub a little bit, so I have a little angle grinder+hammer magic to work and then they'll be good.

I like that look! I have the same truck in white, so I want to go with black wheels and a little beefier tire. Love the truck

Thanks, I really like the look too, but I might need to lift it a little in the front, it scrubs pretty bad...

Did your truck have the painted rear bumper? Mine did, it rusted all through so I linexed it. I see you did something to yours, just wondering what? It looks great!

Right now, the plan is to fab a new front and rear bumper, along with a leveling kit to hopefully eliminate the rubbing. Thanks for the compliment.
