Thumbs up Re: tubular motor mounts

There is a vendor on CK5 that just recently started fabricating a really good looking tubular engine crossmember. He goes by "Cyberfire" over there & his website is diy4x.com.

Apparently, he's a pretty good fabricator & a damn good guy according to others that have dealt with him. I haven't dealt with him yet, but I plan to.

Just FYI,
Buddy

Re: tubular motor mounts

I see a difference. I'm using poly mounts vs what you have there. My poly mounts came with the tubular mounts from performance online. Mine do not hit there.

Re: tubular motor mounts

Just a quick thought, Is your engine square in the engine compartment. I found with my BBC that there is enough room with the bolt holes that one side could be further forward than the other side. I installed my tubular mounts and left the bolts loose. Then measure the transmission tailshaft to ensure it was center within the frame. If your not centered shifting the transmission may provide you with the needed clearance. Good luck.

and the mounts have enough adjustment in them that the motor and trans can slide forward or back about 1/4-1/2 inch to get a bit more clearance on the mounts. the motor can slide in the frame mount and or the frame mount can slide on the bolt that hold it to the frame.

Re: tubular motor mounts

Wanted to add some pics for reference (396 with Camaro headman headers...1-3/4" primaries). I also wanted to ask if anyone has found an electric fan setup that works with these mounts, big block and short waterpump? I have just under 4" from the waterpump pulley bolts to the 4 core radiator. These mounts pull the motor forward a touch more than the OE big block mounts.
You can see on the passenger side I had to clearance the frame a touch for the header, this was the only mod that I needed. I will also not that these mounts set the engine angle at 6 degrees which presents an issue that I am dealing with now. The best angle I can get with shims under the trans mount is 3 degrees which is great but I now have about 1/8 " clearance between my transmission and the tunnel (low hump).
