How does the wiring work for Horn to steering wheel?

My Horn was installed in to a Press button on the dash. I want to connect it back to the steering wheel. Does anyone know how this works? My truck has two horns that look very old and work as one.

The horn button supplies ground for the horn relay. Hard to say if your button just provides power for the horns, or if it supplies ground like the original. A few tests would determine that.

ALSO, on my 61 I have the EXACT same old button for my horns. Its mounted under the column though. Same steering wheel too, maybe these had issues. I got my truck from an old guy in Hemet. I wonder if yours and mine were done by the same guy since we are so close to each other....

That could be possible. My truck was a ex-police truck in San Diego and then owned by a old Micky mouse dude that neglected that crap out of this truck..

Lucky, I just pulled out a rats nest of bad wiring and useless switches the other day. I want to figure out how to wire the orginal temp cage back together. The truck came with a aftermarket guage that's under the dash

Here are some pics of the wire you need to hook up. Mine is a 61, but I think they are the same.

This is the green wire that goes to the horn button on the steering wheel

This look familiar???

That wire doesn't go to the fuse box or the battery. It goes from the horn relay to the horn button. It's a ground wire.

So then all I need to do is find where the wire is supposed to run from the horn button on the wheel and run it to the horn relay?

Theoretically. But you should use a test light and see what that button that was installed is doing. If its supplying ground like the original horn button did, or if its been changed to supply power.

You mentioned that the PO was a tinkerer. I could see a tinkerer running power from the fuse box, thru the button, to the horns. This would basically eliminate the horn relay.
