Single Wire Alternator Install?
The FYI in the electrical section would not allow me to open...Can someone post this or a link explaining the procedure? I'm doing a conversion on a 72 C-10 SBC to BBC, left side to right side single wire 100 amp conversion...Thanks, ~Ghostrider~ aka, "MY-KILL"

Re: Single Wire Alternator Install?
Why are you doing a singe wire install? Four wire alternators are much better and will charge at low rpms (due to exciter wire).

Re: Single Wire Alternator Install?
Alternator came with the big block, it only has a one wire terminal, and because this is a "high rpm install"...

Re: Single Wire Alternator Install?
Really good read on 1 wire alternator wiring vs 3 wire. Might answer your question?

Re: Single Wire Alternator Install?
1 wire alternator is 1 big hot wire to battery +. What else do you need?

It will only sense the state of charge of the battery and will keep the battery charged but it may not deliver enough amps for electric cooling fans or other high draw loads. This can create some substantial voltage drops and result in less than adequate current for the truck system. Take some time and read the link.

Re: Single Wire Alternator Install?
You are welcome. The tech tips are great. He has a small little manual with in depth articles on the subjects that I (electrically challenged) can actually comprehend. Might take me more than one read, but finally I got it.
Great guy to talk to as well, actually a little hard to get off the phone as he LOVES to talk car electrical systems. Not associated to company in any way other than a VERY HAPPY Customer.
