Did the "K5 Blazer" fender emblem change between 69-72?
Hi, random question... my K5 fender emblem on the right side is broken. it just says "K/5" and "ER" the center section broke away.
so I have been casually looking for an original replacement fender emblem that has some original patina to blend in with my truck. one finally came up on flebay so I jumped on it, it arrived and now I have a question. My sheetmetal looks to be all original, however there is no center hole drilled on my fender. There is a long living rust pattern on the inner fender and bottom of the front fender from battery decay that makes me think my fender is original, however the new (used) fender emblem I found has three studs on it to attach, one on each and and one in the middle. Did the '72 blazers only have a 2-stud fender emblem? is my fender just not what it appears to be? I cant see any filler and the faded paint with the greenish primer bleeding through screams originality... |

I have the exact same issue. I'm fairly certain my fenders are original, but I don't have that 3rd hole you're talking about. Take a look on my build towards the bottom. Do your fender holes look like mine?

Can you post a pic of the backside of the emblem? I have never seen one with 3 studs. My '72 was all original, original paint, and it only had 2 studs on the emblems. I also have a fender off of a '69-70 (not sure the year, but where the emblem was removed there's factory metallic blue paint under it so it's not a 71-72) and it only has 2 holes for the Blazer emblem and the 2 for the engine size. I would have thought the factory would have made all the fenders the same to cut costs so adding a third hole doesn't make sense?

My original 70 has three holes. The middle one is at the top of the B.

Pretty sure they all had 3 studs on back. The 2 outer holes look to be the same as a custom or cheyenne emblem spacing. (so if you used a pickup fender with that emblem, the middle stud would be in the way...)

Re: Did the "K5 Blazer" fender emblem change between 69-72?
Maybe it was a plant thing, kind of like Janesville putting the Deluxe emblems in a weird spot? Looking at the emblems off of my truck, I can see where the middle studs appear to have been broken off. I know for a fact that the truck had never had any paint work done to it and both sides only have two holes.
