Stupid ignition switch question

I'm swapping the steering column in my 1986 C10, the previous owner swapped in a 1992 Tilt-Column from a stick, but I'm going back to an original non-tilt automatic column since I'm converting to a TH400 transmission.

My question is, since my new column doesn't have an ignition switch mounted on the end of the column, can I use the one from the 1992 column?

No, the ignition switches are different for tilt vs. non-tilt columns.

They both look very similar and use the same electrical connectors but the rod that connects up to the lock cylinder moves in opposite directions. If I remember correctly, the rod in the non-tilt column pushes down (while the rod in the tilt column pulls upward) as the key is rotated forward into the start position.

Well that answers my question, because the rod on the non-tilt was too short to allow me to install the switch. Looks like I'll have to buy a new switch..something else I can't afford haha.
