Is the radiator core support the same on gmc and Chevy?

I recently hit a deer with my 72 GMC K1500, it destroyed my grill, radiator core support, left fender, fender well and a few other parts. I found a front clip from a 70 C10, haven't been to look at it yet but not sure if the core support is the same, do Chevy core supports have mounts for the extra GMC headlights?

I'm thinking they're the same minus the welded on headlight buckets, I can get headlight buckets from Classic Parts but want to make sure there won't be any issues before I buy this front clip.

Not the same ! But with a good measuring you can drill out and swap the GMC buckets over to the Chevy core. Or turn it into a Chevy ! I did that on my 68 GMC but regretted it later on, JMO.

You'll be wasting your money on that front clip... the 69-72 chevy fenders are different than the GMC. To have the turn signal hole you want a 68 chevy or 68-72 GMC fender.

Yes, you can weld the GMC headlight buckets onto a chevy core support.

If you only want the clip for the core support and inner fender, you should be good... just wanted to make sure you knew the outer fenders are NOT the same.

Is it just the headlight buckets? Is the sheet metal the same otherwise? Thanks!

Re: Is the radiator core support the same on gmc and Chevy?

The fronts of the fenders are different. Where the eyebrows are bolted up has an slight crease in the metal in the 1969 and later Chevy fenders. The GMC fenders (which are 1968 only Chevy fenders) do not have the crease.

Thanks, I forgot about that crease. I can get the clip for $100 so I may still do it. Was looking at my parts catalogs and don't see any core supports specifically for gmc, I guess they aren't reproduced specifically for gmc, I did see headlight buckets so I suppose they sell those to convert the Chevy to a gmc support.

Re: Is the radiator core support the same on gmc and Chevy?

Classic Heartbeat sells the GMC core supports and they are about $70 more bucks than a Chevy core support. So if you can reuse your GMC headlight buckets and tack weld them to a Chevy core support, you can save a few bucks.
