Passed the 1000 miles driven mark!!
I bought my 1966 GMC 2500 1 ton Utility in January from an older gentleman in NY. Had her shipped to Massachusetts on the day that the unending snow falls began.
When I got her she had 12,772 miles They put an average of 266 miles a year on her for the first 48 years. I got her on the road in June and yesterday I passed the 1000 miles driven mark.

Re: Passed the 1000 miles driven mark!!
Judging by the interior parts and everything else I find I'm comfortable the odometer is correct

Congrats! Yeah, I had 137,000 on my 66 and I put 1000 miles on it before I finally started restoring it.

Re: Passed the 1000 miles driven mark!!
After many failed projects at a younger age I have decided to drive it as it is and do one thing at a time.

Re: Passed the 1000 miles driven mark!!
I am with you. I drove my 66' all about 2 miles then tore it all apart and a little over a year later I still am not driving it. I will enjoy it soon though.
That is a nice looking 1 ton there, probably doesn't need much, enjoy it.. |

Re: Passed the 1000 miles driven mark!!
I just added a power steering unit from a '68 GMC 3/4 ton this weekend and wow what a comfort and drivability quality difference. Mounted a rebuilt 1978 quick ratio gear box on a Captn Fab's bracket.
I kind of have the next few steps already planned out. Most of the major parts were purchased this spring when more cash was coming in. Next is install the HEI unit I just completed. Then a Holley 2bl 500 on an intake I'm opening up to flow better. Followed by vacuum assist brakes and splitting the lines to prep for a disc brake conversion. I'm also working on rebuilding a '89 full cross member swap from an GMC R3500. Somewhere in between the larger projects I need to sand blast the floors, POR15 and install MIP flooring from LMC

Re: Passed the 1000 miles driven mark!!
Congrats, what a great find! Bought a 66 back in April. After some normal maintenance and brake work I started DD it. I put almost 2000 miles on it so far. Converted to HEI distributor and internally regulated alternator recently. Sounds like some cool plans you have for it.
