What dual master cylinder needed.....?
Hi Folks,
I want to upgrade my single master cylinder to dual master - 66' C10 step side - drums all round . Having looked around I'm finding myself confused about which to get and from whom!, I'm not interested in having power brakes, and I will be sticking with drums for now. Trouble is I can't just pop down the auto parts store as we don't have them here (for our trucks) in the UK and the good lady indoors won't allow me to come to USA just to go parts shopping ........... Yet! As I said I've been looking online at summit - classic - brothers but I seems the more I look the more options I find and then the more confused I get about which is the right one for my application? Any and all help will be greatly appreciated over here, thanking you T' da D Posted via Mobile Device |

Re: What dual master cylinder needed.....?
if you can get a hold of a Master cylinder from a 67, you will have what you need. Just remember to split the brake lines front to rear.

Re: What dual master cylinder needed.....?
All you need is a master cylinder for a '67-'70 C10.

Re: What dual master cylinder needed.....?
I ordered the MC for a 67 from Rockauto. Even with freight it came at a saving from what I could get here.
On our trucks, front line out of the cylinder to front brakes, rear line to rear brakes? What happens if they are reversed? |

Re: What dual master cylinder needed.....?
I think on my S10 MC its front brakes to rear and rear brakes to front of the MC...someone correct me if I'm wrong..but in your case might not matter...as its drum/drum and no proportioning is needed...

Re: What dual master cylinder needed.....?
On the '67-'70 master cylinders, the front port is front brakes and rear port is for rear brakes. Not all master cylinders are designed the same.

Re: What dual master cylinder needed.....?
Thank you but are you sure on that as I've read here so much that the larger line is for drums needing more fluid...

Re: What dual master cylinder needed.....?
In the 67 reservoir the chambers are the same size and IIRC they did not use a proportioning valve.
Captain confirms that front line to front brakes and rear line to rear brakes, so I've got some swapping to do. Seems to work perfect as I have it though. |

Re: What dual master cylinder needed.....?
I am finding a lot of folks have their brakes wrong if you look at this one the front discs are hooked to the rear smaller reservoir and have smaller lines. reading the posts after this one the front are the ones that split after the prop valve...

Re: What dual master cylinder needed.....?
I'll tell you a funny story...I emptied the MC and found the rear chamber to be larger than the front...it's an optical illusion for me as it seems taller up front...it explains a ton!

Re: What dual master cylinder needed.....?
Does anyone sell a kit with pre bent and flared brake lines for this upgrade?
