Vapor Lock
I have a 69 Chevy C10. I live in So.Cal and it's been hot & humid! Twice this week I've had a vapor lock! Once in the fast lane on the fwy! What's the best way to correct this issue? I'd appreciate any advice.

Re: Vapor Lock
vapor lock is mostly an old wives myth it doesn't really exist// check your fuel system start at the gas cap and slowly work your way methodically to the carb

Re: Vapor Lock
Take a look at the location of your fuel filter/fuel line. I had a similar issue in that mine would start fine when cold but when hot it was hard starting during summer heat. No issues in cooler spring or fall. Fuel filter was down about mid block and was picking up a lot of heat. Moved it up the line to the top of the engine and near the carburetor. End of problem.

Re: Vapor Lock
Same thing happened to me when I moved to Fresno. I put on an edelbroke 1/2 in thick heat riser. I just ordered it from summit and I shortened my fuel hose going to my carb cause it was touching my valve cover. Never happened again.

Re: Vapor Lock
I bent a new Fuel line from my mech pump. Wrapped it in Heat Tape. That helped a ton but the Phenolic? Spacer pretty much eliminated my issues with that. Good Luck

Re: Vapor Lock
I had that reoccurring issue. It progressively got worse until the truck refused to start, and had to be towed home.
From there I diagnosed the problem to a failed fuel pump. Once I replaced it, I've never had vapor lock symptoms again. And I live in the Arizona desert, and that was probably 4 - 5 years ago! Apparently, a pump can show these symptoms as a precursor to complete failure. I don't know if I'd performed a pressure test if I would've seen any problems. Regards, Mike
