Re: How do the Vent Cables work?

The early trucks had cable operated vents instead of the handle like on the 46 -66. So when you wanted to open the vent you pulled the knob. The vents also had a louvered cover. I have a complete set for my 65 because I like the look.

Re: How do the Vent Cables work?

Here's a thread on converting existing vents to cable operated.

Re: How do the Vent Cables work?

After I made the mistake of oiling the cable, the wind was always able to crack mine open and create a whistle. They looked cool, but I gave them to a friend. I couldn't deal with the noise.

Re: How do the Vent Cables work?

You can adjust the snugness of the cables by putting a bend in the cable and bending the core wire. the bend will ad drag to the cable.
