Rear Brake Lining Area
Hi. This is for my 71 C20 with a Dana 60.
I ordered new drums and shoes from Autozone. Everything looks good except for the brake linings. The metal parts between the old and new shoes are identical, however, the there is a lot less lining on the new replacements. Old linings are 13" and 11 1/4" long. The new linings are both 10" long. This is part #419 from Autozone. I'm thinking that these are the right shoes with the wrong linings. Or do the new ones just come shorter linings like that? Thanks, Stan

Re: Rear Brake Lining Area
I wonder if their supplier is just using the cheapest possible linings. Check other sources -- it would be worth a bit more $$ to get the right thing, especially with something as important as brakes.
The rear shoes I got from NAPA had full length linings.

Re: Rear Brake Lining Area
Thanks. These were "Duralast" brand. I'm taking them back and will try NAPA. Now I'm wondering about the "Duralast" drums that I got, one of which had the weights rattling around in the box....
