Cab Pics request - manual trans shifters & seating

I'd be interested to see where people have fitted non-stock transmissions, the changes they've made to their cab -bucket seats, shifter position, trans type?

I did have a look but if I have missed an existing/old thread please set me straight

Re: Cab Pics request - manual trans shifters & seating

Here's a shot of my interior. The powertrain is a 350 Chevy with a Richmond 4 speed under a high hump floor. The shifter is a Street Super Shifter which mounts the unit high up with straight shift rods, although I'm running a conventional handle, and ProCar bucket seats:

Wow that is some cab! What's the heater unit from? So, the Richmond - shifter position similar to an m20/21/22 etc.?

Here's mine with a 4 spd Saginaw and old school Nissan pickup seats with the headrests removed. The floor is a low hump and the shifter is a Hurst.

The heater is the standard poor man heater, with nothing in the engine compartment but the hoses. I did have to relocate the defrost diverter into the glove compartment to make room for the air conditioner.

The shifter position was essentially the same as where a Muncie would have placed it with a stock Hurst shifter. The Street Super Shifter moves the shift housing up into the shift boot, and several inches further to the rear.

non stock? ok.

NV1500 5 speed coreshifters short shift and 16" hurst stick. in a perfect world it would be 3-5" further back.

I guess that the shift kits for the Munices and the Saginaws enter through the cab floor behind the hump and that retaining a bench seat is not possible unless a toploader trans is used?

Really interesting to see how people have modified their cabs

I take it that would be so that you could shift gears more comfortably or use a shorter shifter for less throw? The position at which the shifter comes through the floor looks pretty close to the 420 trans. I wonder if that is the case for all the new venture transmissions?

Re: Cab Pics request - manual trans shifters & seating

on my 64 with a Saginaw 3 speed from a 69 C10, the emergent brake cross member interfered with the shift linkage, so it sets back a bit further, which means it would not clear the bench set. I put in buckets from a 98 C1500 pickup (very comfortable). Shift linkage is the Hurst Indy for a 69 C10 truck, with a old handle from something (Mr Gasket I think).

The Billert piston shift knob was just added last week.

no, the shifter is in a great spot for driving. I used an s10 frame and drivetrain and moved the cab back 4" to center the front wheels. ideally, I would have moved the engine and trans back the same amount, but it fit well so I didnt. plus you can get to all the top trans bolts from the top of the motor now, thats definitely nicer than combinations of swivels and extensions.

If I do another swap like this, I will move the motor back. there was another hurst bench seat shifter I loved but could not use because the stick would hit the dash in 1-3-5

'98 Chevy 60/40 cloth split bench. NV4500. The shifter sits back 8 or so inches from the original shift tower hole. 2nd and 4th gear put the shifter about 1" away from the front of the seat. I really want to shorten the shifter 3-4" but haven't had the time yet.

I have a factory bench seat in my 1065 C10. Here's my T5 with an S10 shifter position and no adapter plate and the cast iron bell is in the factory location.

Here's mine. Sm420 with a seat off of a 01 F$#D pickup. With behind the seat gas tank in stock location. Plenty of room for 2nd 4th and reverse.
