4x4 frame years?
Were the 1960-66 4x4 frames redesigned in 1963 (like the 2WD frames)? Or were they only redesigned in 1964? I know they changed at some point, and I thought it was at the same time as the 2wd frames but maybe it wasn't.

Re: 4x4 frame years?
my 63 4X4 has the big spread for the 63 bumper bolts, so I would say that they got the facelift like the 2wd then.

Re: 4x4 frame years?
hey jon does your truck have the tubular cross member for the front engine mount, or does it use the two individual side mounts that are riveted to the frame?

Re: 4x4 frame years?
mine has the v8, and the riveted side mounts.
my data tag shows engine options of 235, and 283, not the 230/292, I heard that they still put 235's in 63 4X4's, and that might be the reason for a tube mount in a 63 4X4?

Re: 4x4 frame years?
Thanks Jon, the consensus is that the frame was updated for 1963 but that the 1960-62 crossmember was carried over for one year and only for the 235.

Re: 4x4 frame years?
there is other changes to the frame change. front shock mounts are different and i think the rear too. front brakes are different also (brake shoe adjustment) changed backing plates. 63? 64-66 for sure. jon has a few K10's maybe he will chime in.

Re: 4x4 frame years?
There was a first and second series of K models produced in 1963. If you scroll down in this link http://67-72chevytrucks.com/vboard/s...d.php?t=327764 you will see the documentation. I haven't however found any information on the difference of the two models.
