Who has a 4x4 with a 700r4/205
OK
I have asked this before but hoping for some more answers. Those of you who have done the 700r4 with the 205 swap, what did you do for your tranny to transfer case adapter? Is Advance Adapters the only way to go? Or are there other alternatives? Shawn

Lots of guys on CK5.com running that combo. You might want to check over there. I think advance adapters is your best bet for the adapter.

What you need is ANY 700r4 and the advance adapters 700r4 output shaft that is made for this swap. The reason ANY 700r4 will work is that when you have the output shaft put in the tranny you just tell the rebuilder you are going to put the tranny in a truck with a NP205. They will then leave the tail housing off if your core 700r4 came out of a car or 2wd truck. All 700r4 rules apply. Though any one will work the ones made after 1987 and before computer controlled shifting are the best cores to start with. Or should I say they are the cheapest to convert to work right with your transfer case. I have not personally done this swap but my 700r4 core is on the garage floor. I'm just getting up the gumption to do the swap itself. The tranny/transfer case is a big, heavy, awkward pig. A couple of years ago I swapped in a th350/np205 for a 3-speed/np205. I can't believe I'm thinking about doing something like that again. That being said, for what I use my truck for, swapping from a stick to an auto was the best money/labor I've ever spent on my truck. Now I just wish I would have went all the way and put in a 700r4 to begin with.
