Re: 67 c-20 rear end 5 lug conversion
I would change the axles and brake drums. Probably the cheapest. Unless the rear end is toast.

If your truck is a c/20 it should have an 8lug front and rear wheels. to change to 5 lug. everything will have to be off of a 1/2 ton with 5lug running gear.

Here is one conversion kit for your truck. You would need to do the front to go to five lug as well, I am assuming you have drums, http://www.speedwaymotors.com/1967-1...Kit,46357.html You might have to change the spindles on the front but this may be a good opportunity to go with dropped spindles. I "think" that the front suspension from a newer truck may work on yours. 73-87. These are a guideline, you may wish to crank up your search engine and find other conversions. Car 5 lugs are different than truck five lugs. Cheers. ray

Re: 67 c-20 rear end 5 lug conversion
It is a 8 lug rear end. What year axles would work on that rear end or is there other year trucks that have rear ends that would fit?

Re: 67 c-20 rear end 5 lug conversion
On a C-20 running the 8 lug reared you are stuck with the 8 lug axle... even if you could change the axle to a 5 lug (which you can't) you would not be able to find a brake setup to fit.... Again the most cost effective way is to locate a C-10 rear differential...

I would suspect finding a 67-70 rear could be difficult. Is there another rear, possibly with a limited slip, that would work with this truck? I assume that brackets would have to be welded on. ray

There are alot of options out there but these differentials for the C-10 are everywhere especially if you are good with a open carrier and not a P-trac... you should be able to find a bolt in application for 300 or less with the brake drums and all...

Re: 67 c-20 rear end 5 lug conversion
I bought an 84 Suburban complete for less than $500. Pulled the front axle complete out and slid under my 1/2 ton frame. Drilled two new holes and elongated 2 (one each side). Instant 5 lug and disc brakes.
On the rear pulled one rear end out slid the other (5 lug) in place and installed. Used the u bolts off the donor (if I remember right). Anyhow, buy a donor and swap em out if you want to do it on the cheap. If you want all new stuff, the new (donor) stuff can be rebuilt from any of the auto supply houses. MOOG is good.
