vintage air firewall bulkhead - inline? diamond? square? and where to install?

My body guy is getting ready to finish off smoothing and painting the firewall and I realized I need to buy the vintage air bulkhead fittings for him to cutout and install. When I looked online I saw they are available in 3 configurations- inline, diamond and square. Anyone installed these and decided that one configuration works better then others for any reason? I kind of like the black anodized diamond shaped one.

Any input on how well the different ones work? It seems that the inline would make for a lot of space taken up by hoses.

Where have you guys installed them? I've only got the vintage air heater to install right now. I plan on installing the a/c in a few years, so am installing the 4 port plate now, since I'm having the firewall and interior painted once the firewall is smoothed. I'm thinking of installing kindof high and to the right (passenger side) of the bellhousing.

Here's a pic from a couple weeks ago.

Thanks for the input!

Ok, I guess "search is my friend"! Found this thread with some great pics.

Does the mounting of the bulkhead plate affect how or where the a/c unit will be installed in the cab? I don't have VA a/c unit in my possession to see how it will attach. I'm not a big fabrication guy, so an easy install is always desirable!

This is what I'm thinking right now: http://67-72chevytrucks.com/vboard/a...1&d=1347167262

this is sure fit gen 4 and these holes need to match the unit for mounting. I used their adaptor plate from vintage air and cut it to fit the holes in firewall from the old heater
