Plastic Tank? In or under is OK!

Ladies and gents. Going diesel and my metal tank is rusty inside.

Is there a plastic inside tank option?

Is there a preferred plastic Suburban or other style tank for underneath?

Could but want to avoid corrosion at the top of the tank where there is air...injection pumps and injectors break the bank if the smallest bit of that gets in. Plastic or aluminum are really the only way to fly. Plastic will probably be a fraction of the cost though.

Cat 1 Micron filter.
I use one on my engine and a Donaldson 3 micron at the fuel tank in my LMM.
Of course my fuel tank is Poly as well, so your headed in the right direction.

No - My LMM is a 2009 Silverado Duramax Diesel with a Poly tank.
I conducted a search but havnt yet found a poly tank for the C10. I have a aluminum tank I have yet to use . . .

Oh yeah I have a filter on the cummins but a metal tank is still going to corrode and impede flow more than a plastic.

Anyway - back on topic. Plastic tanks.

Try going to Tanks Inc and searching "poly", they have a variety, one might work.

I noticed this one in particular. it is 34.5" x 19" x 8.5" and comes in left & right fill. (note I have no experience with this tank/site, just trying to help)

I used a similar tank to that from Tanks Inc. in my '68 long bed. I moved the rear crossmember back and removed the spare tire brackets. Fit good. Haven't used it yet but I know it won't rust.

For what it’s worth – I had a poly tank under my 46 Ford sedan back in the late 80’s. I no longer remember who made it, but it worked great and was inexpensive. It also sagged badly during the heat of summer so I ended up putting multiple van straps under it to give it a better safety margin.

When considering the installation just plan for additional support underneath as these don’t have the rigidity of a metal component.

That looks good. Are you thinking this would be good to mount right behind the cab on the frame rail?

If you are talking between the frame rails, behind the cab, no this won't work as you have the driveshaft running through there. If you are talking on the outside of the frame, this is way too big to fit there.

Behind the rear axle is the only location this is going to fit unless you mount it inside the bed itself.
