NOS grilles make the best candidates for getting reanodized or "Bright Dipped" . Taking a used grille in , well , it would have to be pretty much free of stone or sand pit marks as these marks are magnified and become craters after anodizing. Polishing them out before hand can be very risky making the aluminum very thin. I have many of these grilles NOS and like you guys are saying tooling marks are much more common on the later production grilles. Every once in awhile you get lucky. I took my worst one and had it reanodized , looks fantastic now. Still I believe the factory aluminum grille in a restoration shows the attention to detail by the owner.
