ok what am i doing wrong here ?

ok i bought a new set of wiper arms from truckshop.com and blades and got my wipers working again because the PO broke the wiper linkage under the cowl well all tat is fixed now but . now my wiper arms dont rest down at the bottom of the wind shield like all of yours ive seen when they come to rest after they are turned off they stop at like6 or 7 inches above the bottom of the windshield making a triangle if you will ... i have popped them off and reset them till im blue in the face and nothing fixes it in fact when i set them as close as i can to the bottom of the windshield when they are turned on they go below the rubber at the bottom of the windshield while in action .... what is the fix to this there has to be something lol how can something so easy go so wrong

Strange as it may sound, I had the same problem and gave up on it until I drove it in the rain and made the adjustment to them with a wet windshield. All I know is that is what worked for me.

When you turn off the switch, do the wipers park in the down position or do the stop where they are?

No they go down but stop mid window to form a point at just under the center of the windshield

Re: ok what am i doing wrong here ?

can you take them off and rotate and reinstall them a bit lower? Seems like that would fix it....

Re: ok what am i doing wrong here ?

When you rebuilt the linkage did anything have to be modified to work again? A change in the geometry can cause issues...

I like the linkage suggestion
or your "park" part of the switch is wearing out
could you show which wiper motor is in your truck

Re: ok what am i doing wrong here ?

Your wiper linkage might be out of time, there were marks on the wiper motor on my 62 K-10 not sure about 64-66 motors. I've sold the truck and all my 60-66 manuals. Maybe someone could check the shop manual.

I believe I have one that I can send you to see if that is the problem. Is it two speed or single speed?

Re: ok what am i doing wrong here ?

I would think that the issue is where the linkage is attached to the motor itself that is the issue not the wipers. My thinking is if they park in the same position every time the park is working you just have to adjust the linkages to agree with where park is with the motor.

I don't see any way to adjust the linkages on it they only fit one way . As they have a slot to only go on that position on the shaft of the wiper motor .

Re: ok what am i doing wrong here ?

I put an aftermarket wiper motor on my 66 and it does the same thing. Turn the switch off and the wipers park a little high. Turn it on and off real quick again and they drop down where they should. There is no way to correct this by moving the wiper blades or fooling with the linkage. The problem is the park switch in the motor isn't in the right position. I chose to just live with it but you can probably fix it if you want to. I think there are instructions for doing that in the GM Shop manual.
