knocking in rear
Been chasing down this knock in the rear drivers side.Just bought the truck.Sounds like a bad shock bushing. Finally laid down on my back and pushed with my feet and arms on the bed to make the truck bounce.Holy crap! The U bolt on the rear axle was rocking back and forth.Nothing is broken. But could this bolt just loosen like that?I sprayed it with some monkey piss and tried to tighten it,Nothing. That B@#%h is tight. So I'll let it sit over night and work on it when the sun is up.Probably just cut it off and put on a new one.Is this common?

Re: knocking in rear
I don't know about "common" but I've seen a couple that were loose... One was on a 20xx with 55k. So.... Maybe just random...If you had to spray a catalyst to try to turn it I'd just cut it off. Cheap part.. A lot less headache...

Re: knocking in rear
If you have a torch set, heat the nuts up and tighten...( as long as no broken parts)

Re: knocking in rear
I pulled 2 sets of trailing arms yesterday off parts frames and I'll tell you what that was a major PIA ,I had to heat the u bolt nuts and use a heavy duty electric 1/2 in impact to bust them loose ! and then had to work 30 minutes just to get the u bolts out with 48 years of road crud packed in the trailing arms ,NO FUN !

Re: knocking in rear
Same thing was happening on mine. I found that one U-bolt was slightly loose and used an impact wrench to tighten it up, all's good...
