Re: Gas tank relocate, frame strip questions

I'm a retired master mechanic, and I have seen and heard about broken mounting tabs on all kinds of tanks. I have learned over the years not to mount tanks ridged. I use reinforced rubber between the tabs and frame and just snug up the retainer using self locking nuts. you can use pieces of the side wall of a tire for instance. If the flange looks like it is not going to match up to the contour of the frame use extra rubber in that area, don't stress the flange. Other tanks, ws washer bottles, overflow jugs etc. Snug them up and back off a 1/4 turn. Just some advise from an old man.
