Proper heater hose location?

alright on my 67 chev, right now i have my heater hoses like this.. top of heater core deal goes to intake, bottom goes to water pump, i have seen pics of them like this and other pics of them opposite. im installing new hoses this weekend and want it to be right. thanks

Assuming you do not have ac, I believe the route should be from the intake, into the lower fitting on the heater, out the upper and return to the water pump. The way you have it will work fine but you may hear some "gurgling" from time to time. If it had ac it would return to the radiator.

Heater hose routing won't affect the engine temp. The condition of your radiator, shroud, fan and thermostat would.

It won't even make the heater work better or worse.
In reality, onless you are going for a 100% show room floor restoration, it doesn't matter which hose goes to which port. As long as they fit.

as long as coolant flows through the heater core, it will work just fine, my factory shop manual instructs the top heater hose to go to the intake/ rad and the bottom hose to the waterpump though.
