3 Groove Cast Iron Water Pump Pulley Help - The 1947 - Present Chevrolet & GMC Truck Message Board Network

Need help to identify a 3 groove cast iron water pump pulley number 3868451. I believe the numbers to be correct, will confirm. Would like to know engine applications, along with years used. Photo below and more soon.

PGSigns just looked it up, and parts manual shows it to be for a 1965 292 I6 engine. It would be used with HD Cooling and A/C?

Looks similar to the ones used on the 283 and 327s. Any information on how they are different?

Les it looks just like mine 3 groove, it's currently on the truck so I can't see the numbers...

Will post some more photos of it. What size belts are you using, it looks like it is deep groove.

The parts books list it as 1965 292 which is correct but it was also used on 1966 292s with heavy duty cooling or 292 with AC and 283 327 with Air Conditioning. Heres my 66 with same pulley. Really not sure if 1964s were using it. I have four original examples but all are 1966.

One more question, which crank pulley is used with this water pump pulley, with A/C, power steering on 283/327 engine. ( am I correct to assume it was used 283/327 with A/C and PS). If easy, can you provide the number(s). Is it a 2 grove cast and stamped steel single next to balancer?

Yes , stamped inner pulley and cast two groove. I believe the stamped pulley is common to cars with short water pump also but the 2 groove Cast pulley is either 3831397 superceded by 3876326 or 3747479 . These will get you close, I have not had the V8 pulley off this truck to confirm. I know there were other threads on this subject.
