Interesting paint question-85 GMC
My truck is/was originally Indian Bronze code 66. Its got 2 yellow pin strips that go front to back along the body line. They look some what original but I was told the truck was repainted. One thing I noticed is inside the fuel doors and in the door jams I see what looks like a older 2 tone with the dark and a tan with tan pin stripes. My glove box sticker doesnt show a 2 tone. The other thing is the driver door was replaced and its more of a copper color but inside the door jam on the door its self is the same dark color with the tan stripes. The guy I got it from said it was originally a light tan and it was painted the darker color but that doesnt jive with the glove box code and the fact that the interior metal is painted the same dark brown color. Anyone else come acoss something like this?

Re: Interesting paint question-85 GMC
That is correct but it's in the door jams on both sides. I don't think the bed was replaced but who knows. On the door that is bronze or copper you can clearly see that it has a dark over light 2 tone that matches the other door which is a different color and the bed which is the color of most of the truck

Re: Interesting paint question-85 GMC
You know how many trucks they brought us to add 2 tone to? Lots. Straight off the transport truck to the paint shop and then back to the dealership. They'd even give us factory stripes to apply to the 2 tone line.

Re: Interesting paint question-85 GMC
But my truck isnt 2 tone. Other than the replaced door its one solid color. but what really puzzles me is that the driver door which is a different color from the rest of the truck has the same color 2 tone door jam as the other door jam and fuel doors. Yeah doors can be replaced but what are the odds of getting 2 different color doors with the same 2 tone in the jams? And its only in the hinge side of the door.

Re: Interesting paint question-85 GMC
If my truck was 2 tone would it not say on the glove box sticker? Mine just says code 66.

Re: Interesting paint question-85 GMC
is it possible your truck was painted with the two tone by the dealer or a commercial first owner who wanted the truck logoed or toned a certain way... I know lots of utilities police departments and municipal vehicles are custom painted after being ordered in a stock base color I also knew a mason who would order GM trucks in school bus yellow then put a two tone of tan on them
