73-80 dash pad in later truck?

Does anyone know if I could use the 1973-1980 dash pad in my 1985 C/10? I just like the look of the early style better.

I may be mistaken, but I believe the dash under the pad is the same, so it should fit. Someone please correct me if I'm wrong.

Lots of changes in the dashes between 73 and 85 so no it will not work.

Re: 73-80 dash pad in later truck?

I know it works the other direction. I've got a late-style dash in my 79. There is one mounting clip that is different on the driver's side.

I think the main problem is the gauge cluster and bezel. They LOOK the same at a casual glance, but they're just a little different. I know if you try to use the early-style gauge cluster with the later-style dash, it creates an unsightly gap. I'm not sure about the other direction.

I have an '85 cab on my '77 K10 & have installed the earlier dash pad but have yet to find a I.P. cluster surround that will fit.............

It'll work just fine. Will fit better and look more appropriate with the matching bezel too.

Re: 73-80 dash pad in later truck?

I'm using 89 pad in a 78 truck with the 78 bezel fits fine.
except i think it was one vin clip.
later pads have speakers,no holes in the 78 metal dash
78 pad and 89 bezel in a 78,would not work, wipers and light holes move.
and it leaves a funny gap up top
