72 Chev Body on a 1985 4 x 4 Frame?

Hi Guys,

I'm thinking of putting a 72 Chev truck body on a 1985 4 x 4 frame.
Anyone ever done this?

Did you try the 67-72 forum? It's still a 72 so maybe some of them have used different frames. Just curious but why are you wanting to swap?

Thanks.... will try the 72 forum. I have a "soft spot" for the 82-87 with the 6.2 Diesels. Have about 15 trucks/blazers/Subs with this engine. The 72 is a two wheel drive, and thought a 72 on a diesel equipped 4 x 4 85 frame would be kinda cool.

Re: 72 Chev Body on a 1985 4 x 4 Frame?

I haven't done the swap but I had a 69 that was on a 78 frame. The 73 up frames are a little wider than the 67-72 in the body mount area so you will have to modify the mounts to get the cab and radiator support bolted on. The frame is a little different on the back where the bed goes so you have to make a different mount/s for the bed to sit on and have the body lines line up correctly.
