I need some rear suspension help please
I have a 68 SWB fleetside with rear coil springs. It has 2" lowering blocks and the springs are 10 inches tall at rest with no weight on them. Question is I don't know if they are stock springs or lowered as I bought the truck this way and the previous owner doesn't know anything about it. My suspension travel is a very short 1-1/2 inches. If I let the suspension hang the distance from the axle tube to the stock uncut rubber bumper is 1-3/4 inches. With the weight of the vehicle on the suspension the rubber bumper is 1/4 inch from the axle tube. I'm planning on a frame notch kit at some point but for now it has to stay and I need to cut the rubber bumpers down. My question is, does anybody know what height the stock springs should be?
Next question is the total distance from the top shock mount to the bottom when the suspension is hanging is 16-3/4 inches. With the suspension loaded its 14-3/4 inches. I have the CPP rear shock relocation brackets installed. The shocks that were on it were supposed to be for a lowered application and are Doetsch Tech DT4095G but when I measured them they are the same extended and collapsed length as a stock Monroe shock 18-3/8 and 11-3/4 so I don't understand why Doetsch Tech calls theirs a lowered application shock? What shocks are guys using? I'm assuming my truck is lowered 4 inches rear 2 inches front? Any help would be appreciated Thanks! |

Re: I need some rear suspension help please
Issue is the stock springs can sag a good bit on some trucks so a measurement may not help. Posting a picture of your truck may help figure out about how much it has been lowered. I just removed the bump stop on my truck and with 3" drop springs and a 1 1/4 block no issues with bottoming out and no c-notch.
Any info on the front? Jimmy

Re: I need some rear suspension help please
Might have Jeep springs... clearly not enough travel.
