i have disc brakes all around my blazer and was wondering how much a difference brake assist would make over original power brakes?

Re: brake assist

If you are talking hydro boost they are great. They run off the power steering pump. You don't have to worry about engine vacuum if you have a bigger cam.

Re: brake assist

Is that the only advantage? I would think having greater pressure just locks up the brakes quicker for our non-anti-lock brakes..

Re: brake assist

You can certainly lock them up with a hydro boost. Had a hydro boost on a 67 Nova and a 66 Mustang. Took a little getting used to but much nicer than a under vacuum assisted power brakes.

Having said that my other 67 Nova had a wildwood manual system 7/8 or 1 bore MC I forget with C5 Corvette brakes all around and that stopped very nicely. Had to push a bit but never felt like it wouldn't stop as needed.

Re: brake assist

That's a great question as I'm going with disc all around and was looking into a hydro boost set up. I know they make a kit for it but which route are you looking at taking, kit or retrofit?

So, are the same calipers used on a hydro boost system that are used on a manual system?
