Re: Need 1964-66 headlight assembly pic
I wish I had the buckets handy, but they are in storage. Maybe someone else has a good photo. Sorry.

Re: Need 1964-66 headlight assembly pic
Anyone pit there know where the spring on the bucket connects ?I'm guessing the outer headlight ring........oblong hole.....? Looks like the hook faces the wrong way for that ?

Re: Need 1964-66 headlight assembly pic
I have the spring in place on the bucket(indent)but when the spring connects to the outer headlight ring...does it rest against the outer ring or should it be to the inside,It looks wrong at this end.

Re: Need 1964-66 headlight assembly pic
When I disassembled my headlights, the hook on the spring points to the passenger side (both sides of the grille). You can see a few more pics on my website. You can see the hook is pointing left. Those are factory hooks. I may not be thinking clearly, but base on the way mine look, the hook enters the headlight ring from the outside. That's the only way it could work. Maybe you can twist your spring hook a little.

Re: Need 1964-66 headlight assembly pic
Had a grill out today and gave it a close look as I had the same problem on my truck. Pictures below with the headlamp out show the spring clearly. The spring hooks into the headlamp bucket. The stainless headlamp retainer then goes over it. That makes sense; so you can change the headlamp without messing with the whole bucket and it's adjustment. Both sides are identical.

Re: Need 1964-66 headlight assembly pic
So this way is correct, just hook the spring into the bucket, not the stainless ring.

Re: Need 1964-66 headlight assembly pic
As far as i know when i installed mine, the spring goes into the stainless ring. I have an un molested 66 and thats the way it is. You have to be careful with putting the hook into the bucket because the glass bulb may ride on top of the spring hook. In your pic from yesterday VH, that small notch your spring is in, my bulbs have a little projection the fits in that notch.

I'm not trying to start any arguments, but the photos I posted earlier are correct. The photos that VictoriaHardware posted is not correct. Sorry VH.
