1969 Camaro sway bar is it rare?

is a 1969 coil spring camaro rear sway bar rare? cause i have just gotten one and i am hooking it into my truck:p

If I remember right, the 69 Camaro never came from the factory with a rear sway bar. It would have been aftermarket. Also, the Camaro was leaf spring and not coil spring.

I have a 69 Camaro convertible. It's a big block car with multi- leafs in the rear. It has the factory rear swaybar. I don't know of any first generation Camaros that came with rear coils.

I have never heard of, or seen a 'factory' rear sway bar on a 67-69 Camaro. Firebird yes, Camaro no.

It was on there when I got the car. I guess I just assumed it was original??? Possibly someone bolted a Firebird one on there? Who knows (or really cares) how many previous owners the car had...Thanks for the info.

I've never seen a reference to a rear sway bar on first gen firebirds, but there was a rear sway bar developed for camaros that was listed in the heavy duty part supplements of the 68-72 dealers parts catalogs. It was developed during the 67 trans am racing season but was never put on a production car. It looked identical to a first gen camaro front sway bar but was mounted backwards and upside down. The end links were attached to brackets sandwiched between the leaf spring pack and the axle. Not many were used because starting in 68, the shocks were staggered in front and behind the axle which interfered with the bracketry. Estimates are that possibly as few as 10 sets were ever produced. Can you imagine what one would be worth?
