Re: 2'' body lift
Pretty cheap to just do a spring lift on these trucks, not sure I would do a body lift myself.

Re: 2'' body lift
I am quite sure what my truck is...I am doing a body lift on my 2wd to allow room for the 31" tires I put on it..it is a work truck and i plan on loading it down.
I am just wondering about how the bumpers will line up w a body lift.. |

Re: 2'' body lift
The bumpers stay where they're at, so 2" below where they should be, looking awkward. I hate body lifts as they have more problems than benefits, as you will change the relationship of the steering column to box (stock is a straight line) and shifter linkage, fan shroud to fan clearance, etc.
If you want to load it down, don't do a body lift just swap out the rear coils for a stiffer set or if leaves do an add a leaf to the back. Heck even stock springs have to be stronger than the worn out originals. I plan on putting air over leaf on the back of my K20 to compensate for trailer weight on stock worn out springs (but it rides nice!).

Re: 2'' body lift
helpfull info LOWROLLER.you may be right..you got me reconsidering my plan..I like to keep things looking right. I dont want my truck looking freaky with the bumpers out of whack
I may just replace the rear coil springs..there the ones that came on the truck. I put new springs on the front but it still looks low. |

Re: 2'' body lift
Have you looked around on http://67-72chevytrucks.com/vboard/s...d.php?t=449588 some of those trucks even 2wd sit pretty high from the factory.I think its been lowered or the springs have sagged over the years.See if the 3/4 ton springs are a different part number then the 1/2 ton if so they will give you some lift.

Re: 2'' body lift
that has definitely been lowered in some way. If you are going to load it down def don't do a body lift, but that is just me

Re: 2'' body lift
I got my body lift done except for the radiator support. When I got ready to replace the mounting pads I found out my core was trash. I am looking for a replacement. I dont know what the big deal was, I did not find it to be to big of a pita and I really like the way it looks. I will get some pics when I find a replacement core support.

Re: 2'' body lift
As long as you are happy with your truck that is all that matters. Anxious to see how it turned out!

Re: 2'' body lift
I got my new/used radiator core support today. One of the advantages to working at WalMart is you get to see lots of people who have old truck parts. Talked to a man and he sold me a core support for a cool 20 bucks. It had a little cancer on the right side bottom but otherwise in good shape. got it cleaned up and painted today and ready to go in tomorrow.
