Brockman Mellowtones VS. Flowmaster Super 44's

This past Summer, I put a pair of steel-packed Brockman Mellowtone mufflers on my truck (305 V6, true duels, stock manifolds) and while it sounds good when it is idling or at low RPMs, it sounds like a Ford 8N tractor going down the road. Someone just gifted me a set of new Flowmaster Super 44s that were "too loud" for his wife and I am wondering what that would sound like?

I like the "throaty" sounds of Flowmaster mufflers but have only run them on trucks with a V8. Does anyone run Super 44s on their truck with or without headers? How does it sound?

Last time I had something too loud (2004 Ram w/ 5.9 Cummins, and 4" straight pipe), I was actually a topic of conversation at a neighborhood watch meeting. I could do without being "that guy" again.

Also, for the record, I did put a muffler back on the Dodge eventually...

The Flows will be a little quieter, but not by much. They have a "distinctive" sound (and one that is disliked by many, as you've found out). I would suggest a nice pair of generic "Turbo" mufflers. The ones from Summit are inexpensive, and sound great.

Videos are exactly what I was hoping for and you certainly came through. A few questions though; how do you think it sounds on the road/highway and are you running stock manifolds? Thanks again for posting the videos!

I think it sounds awesome! lol I am running stock manifolds. 2.25 pipe to the mufflers and then 2.5 pipe from the mufflers. Here's another video to give you an idea of highway:

I like it! I am wondering what headers would do...(and 4 bbl, and a Pertronix, and a mild cam...).

Thanks again for sharing the videos!
