Videos are exactly what I was hoping for and you certainly came through. A few questions though; how do you think it sounds on the road/highway and are you running stock manifolds? Thanks again for posting the videos!

I think it sounds awesome! lol I am running stock manifolds. 2.25 pipe to the mufflers and then 2.5 pipe from the mufflers. Here's another video to give you an idea of highway:

I like it! I am wondering what headers would do...(and 4 bbl, and a Pertronix, and a mild cam...).

Thanks again for sharing the videos!

The 6066 GMC site has some albums of guys who fabricated headers. I don't think they make a very big difference as these motors have low compression and have fairly low flowing heads. Splitting the exhaust and adding more fuel is about the best thing you can do. An HEI helps as well, but my stock points work fine for mine. No cams are available either, you'd have to have yours custom ground.

I think I need to just leave the '66 truck motor stock(ish) and get a second '66 SWB with a big block. One build for speed and one built for pulling out stumps. Definitely think I need to switch out the Mellowtones with the Super 44s. Videos sold me on that...

The 4 barrel and split exhaust will make a surprising difference, acceleration is much better and you get a nice power increase. Still won't be super fast but at least you can pass someone if need be. lol I love mine and no one will be seeing a v8 replacing it anytime soon. If anything I'll upgrade to a bigger v6. Here's a video of doing an acceleration test with Just a 4 barrel mod and stock single exhaust:
