Rear End Swap
I am a newbie, so bear with me. I'm sure the questions have been asked a million times, but here goes.
I am doing an s10 swap. I want to change the rear end to a G80. I understand that a FWD rear is wider, ie better to fill wheel wells. Will a blazer rear work? I am going to 4-link and bag it, so there will be some fabrication anyways. thx |

Re: Rear End Swap
you are doing an s10 swap on a_____?
what width of wheel mounting flange do you want to end up with? what is the inner width of your fenders (what kind of room do you have for tires, if you want deep dish wheels the diff width will dictate to some degree). pics of the project area? |

Re: Rear End Swap
I am doing this same swap now. I just bought a 4x4 S10 rear end with a 3.42 gear. I'm am going to do a mini tub for some 10" wheels. I do not plan on bagging. I'm just going to set it up as low as I can

Re: Rear End Swap
The 4x4 rear axle is only 58" wide, you may want a ZR2 which is 63". I got some good info from fredscarryall "US Army Sargent slam" build thread. He has all the S10 axle measurements on page 6
I ended up getting an Explorer 8.8, it's 59.5" wide 3.73 gears. The 63" ZR2 was just too wide for me. |

Re: Rear End Swap
I'm still in the building process. The frame is a non issue but the bed is 50" wide. The fenders add another 24" for a total width of 74". If you want to tub the bed then 58 might work as for me I don't want to tub and am fine with 8.5 rims so 62 is what I'm going with. I figure 60-62 is the best unless you want to run 10+ rims then your gonna need to tub anyway. I'm going with 20x8.5 rear wheels with 245/40/20 tires
