Need help with brake lines
I'm trying to figure out how to run my brake lines from the master cylinder. Is a vibration loop necessary? I'm not big on the look of a big pigtail off the master, looks like spaghetti to me. Has anyone done something different? I was thinking about a short piece of braided hose 3"-4" for the transition from the cab to the frame then back to hardline down the frame rail to the rear. Any thoughts or pictures of what you have done is appreciated. Atached is a picture of my master and proportioning valve. Thanks in advance

Re: Need help with brake lines
Forget the loop.
Run them nice and clean down to the frame. I like taking them back to the firewall and then down. I also like Made-4-you products to secure brake lines. https://www.made4uproducts.com I wouldn't run braided hoses except at the caliper connections.

Your cab mounts? IF you want a loop,... just add a 180 degree bend at the frame. Much cleaner in the engine compartment. Properly secured brake lines aren't going to vibrate or shake.

Re: Need help with brake lines
I always assumed the loops were for flex. Someone told me this week it was to keep the length of the runs equal. I find that hard to believe, but he -was- working on my brakes at the time, so...

Re: Need help with brake lines
No need to keep them the same length.
Once they are full of fluid,... its just the principles of hydraulics making the brakes work.

Re: Need help with brake lines
There is movement between the body and chassis, as well as flex in the frame. That is why the cab has bushings and not rigid mounted. Not a lot of movement, but I wouldn't risk metal fatigue in my brake lines. GM built really well engineered trucks and there was a reason they did the things they did.

Re: Need help with brake lines
Also agree that coils were there for a reason and should be utilized. SS lines will work harden more easily than plain steel too. Unless the shiny look of SS is important to you, I would go with Nickle/Copper lines instead. Very easy to form.
